Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate Breaks Silence on Khephren Thuram Transfer Rumors

In the midst of ongoing transfer speculations, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate has publicly voiced his support for the potential acquisition of Khephren Thuram from Nice. Sky Sports reports that the Reds have initiated initial discussions with the French international as part of Jurgen Klopp’s efforts to strengthen their midfield options for the upcoming season. According to L’Equipe, Nice has valued the player at £51.4 million, as per information obtained by the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool has already secured one signing this transfer window, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Premier League counterparts Brighton. The 24-year-old Argentine, a World Cup winner, has been assigned the number 10 shirt at Anfield, indicating the significant role he will play in Klopp’s future plans.

While Mac Allister is expected to contribute primarily in advanced areas, Liverpool remains keen on recruiting midfielders who can provide additional dimensions to the team. Khephren Thuram perfectly fits the profile, boasting a 6ft 4in frame and a penchant for dribbling from deep positions, accompanied by an impressive range of passing.

At just 22 years old, Thuram represents both the present and the future, making him an enticing prospect for Liverpool. Furthermore, one of his international teammates, Ibrahima Konate, expressed his excitement about the potential transfer during an interview with RMC Sport. Konate, who has featured in nine matches for the senior France team, has been named in the squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece. When asked about Thuram joining him on Merseyside, Konate replied, “I would be very happy if he came to Liverpool. I would take him under my wing and I would do everything to make him progress and become the player he wants to be.”

With Konate’s endorsement, Liverpool has received a positive sign to pursue the signing of Khephren Thuram. The ball now lies in the Reds’ court to finalize the deal and bring the promising midfielder to Anfield.
