Anfield construction worker terminated by Liverpool FC following unauthorized release of new £80m stand footage

In a recent development at Anfield, a worker named Kev Moore has found himself at the center of a controversy after allegedly leaking footage of ongoing construction work at the iconic stadium. The construction project in question involves the redevelopment of the Anfield Road stand, aiming to boost the stadium’s capacity from 54,000 to an impressive 61,000.

Moore took to Twitter to claim that he was unjustly terminated by Liverpool FC, stating, “Sacked by @LFC for a video I didn’t even post.” The video in question was uploaded to TikTok and showcases Moore seated high up in the new stand, providing his candid commentary.

As the camera flips to capture the view from his seat, Moore expresses his dissatisfaction with the progress, remarking, “Look how steep those stairs are, lad, fing steep them.” He goes on to compare the view to being in the “fing nosebleeds” and humorously likens it to the infamous “Newcastle away” experience. However, he does acknowledge that the project is gradually taking shape.

In another video uploaded on Wednesday afternoon, Moore can be seen laughing and joking with his colleagues as they prepare to leave the stadium. Before signing off, he takes a parting shot, claiming, “They’re not a**ed about the six tonnes of bricks that fell from the scaffolding. No, it’s me making videos on my break, that’s the nightmare.”

Contrary to reports that Liverpool FC had sacked Moore, sources within the club have denied the allegations, stating that it was the company Moore works for that took issue with him using his phone when it was prohibited.

The redevelopment of the Anfield Road stand, estimated to cost around £80 million, is expected to provide seating for an additional 16,000 spectators once completed. In light of the ongoing construction, Liverpool will be playing their opening fixture of the 2023/24 Premier League season away from home, allowing for more time to finalize the project.
