Liverpool abandon Ryan Gravenberch pursuit, terminate Khephren Thuram transfer talks

In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool has withdrawn from the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, just hours after terminating their pursuit of Khephren Thuram. The decision comes as the club looks to solidify their midfield options during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Liverpool has already made notable additions to their midfield, securing the services of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Szoboszlai, in particular, signed a lucrative five-year contract with the Reds after the club triggered his £60m release clause.

However, Jurgen Klopp remains eager to further strengthen his midfield, aiming to add a third midfielder to his squad as part of his ongoing summer rebuild. Unfortunately for Thuram, Liverpool has reportedly ended their pursuit of the Nice midfielder after securing the signing of Szoboszlai. The club now has its sights set on a No.6 type of player instead.

Furthermore, Liverpool has also decided to abandon their interest in Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich. The 21-year-old has struggled to cement his place in the team under Thomas Tuchel since joining from Ajax last summer. Consequently, there have been speculations about his potential departure from the Allianz Arena in search of regular first-team opportunities. However, it appears that Anfield will not be his next destination.

Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to break the news, confirming that Liverpool is “definitely” out of the running for Gravenberch. Despite talks between the club and the player’s management, the Reds have made their decision. However, Plettenberg did note that Bayern would entertain the idea of selling the Dutchman if a suitable offer were to be made.

With the pursuit of Gravenberch and Thuram halted, Liverpool has now shifted their attention to Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. The 19-year-old has emerged as a priority target for Klopp, with the club prepared to compete with Arsenal and Manchester United for his signature.

As Liverpool navigates the intricate transfer market, the focus on midfield reinforcements remains unwavering. Fans eagerly await further developments as the club aims to assemble a formidable squad for the upcoming season.
