Liverpool’s 2018 signing finds himself on seventh loan move, still awaits Reds debut

Liverpool’s signing of Anderson Arroyo from Colombian side Fortaleza in 2018 was met with enthusiasm, with the young defender impressing during the U20s South American Youth Championship. However, little did anyone know that his path to the Reds’ senior team would be filled with twists and turns.

The 23-year-old, adept at both center-back and right-back positions, was promptly loaned out to La Liga side Mallorca for an 18-month spell, finding himself in the ranks of the B team. Unfortunately, this deal was cut short, and he was soon off to join Belgian giants Gent. Despite high hopes, Arroyo didn’t make a single appearance for the club during his time there.

Subsequent loan stints followed, first at Czech Republic side Mlada Boleslav and then at Spanish third-tier club Salamanca. Eventually, he moved up a division within Spain, joining Mirandes for the 2021/22 season. It seemed like Arroyo was always on the move, seeking the right opportunity to showcase his talents.

Surprisingly, despite his lack of senior appearances for Liverpool, he secured a new contract that extended until 2025 last summer. It was evident that the club saw potential in him, even if the chance to demonstrate it on the big stage had yet to present itself.

The underlying reason behind the multiple loans was the absence of a work permit, which meant Arroyo couldn’t fully integrate into Liverpool’s setup. Consequently, the club had to seek temporary arrangements for the young talent to continue his development elsewhere.

Now, as the 2023/24 season approaches, Arroyo finds himself embarking on yet another loan move, this time to Spanish second division side FC Andorra. His determination to succeed and refusal to let obstacles hinder his progress are truly commendable.

While Liverpool prepares for their upcoming pre-season friendly against Karlsruher and the opening Premier League fixture against Chelsea, Arroyo is gearing up to face Leganes with his new team in Spain. As he readies himself for this new challenge, the hope of eventually making his senior debut for Liverpool remains alive.

For Arroyo, the journey has been arduous, but his spirit remains undeterred. As fans eagerly await his Liverpool debut, they can’t help but admire his resilience in the face of adversity. The footballing world will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on this talented young defender as he continues to chase his dreams and strives for success.
