Liverpool secures young talent for £800,000 following Yaya Toure’s endorsement

Liverpool Football Club has recently made an exciting addition to their youth ranks by securing the services of 14-year-old center-back Harvey Owen. The promising young talent caught the eye of the Reds after receiving high praise from Manchester City legend Yaya Toure.

The deal, reportedly worth £800,000, sees Owen make the move from fellow Premier League side Wolves to join Liverpool’s prestigious academy. This transfer marks Jurgen Klopp’s latest move to strengthen the club’s youth development program, having previously secured the signings of midfield duo Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined fee of £95 million.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, the agreement for Owen’s transfer was already in place between the two clubs back in May. However, it was only recently confirmed by the player himself. Liverpool’s willingness to pay the £800,000 fee demonstrates their determination to fend off potential competition for the young defender’s signature.

Expressing his excitement, Owen took to Instagram to announce his move to Liverpool and share his eagerness to get started with his new club. He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his career, including his former club Wolves.

While Jurgen Klopp is undoubtedly impressed with the young center-back’s potential, he is not the only one. Yaya Toure, a three-time Premier League winner, also took notice of Owen’s talent. According to Wolves’ under 15/16 coach Wes Hughes, Toure, who was working as the head coach of Tottenham’s under 16 setup at the time, personally praised Owen after a match.

Hughes recalled, “We recently played at Tottenham, and he [Harvey Owen] had a nice pat on the back from an ex-player in Yaya Toure. [Toure] personally went up to Harvey and said that he had a lot of potential and would be a really good player in the future, so I think he’ll be really proud of that.”

With such commendations from a footballing icon like Yaya Toure and the backing of Liverpool, Harvey Owen’s future in the sport looks incredibly promising. The young defender’s journey at Anfield has just begun, and fans eagerly await the day he takes to the pitch in the famous red jersey. As Klopp’s side continues to invest in burgeoning talent, the football world watches closely, anticipating the rise of the next generation of stars.
