Richarlison’s Social Media Swipe at Jurgen Klopp After Tottenham’s Controversial Win Over Liverpool

Richarlison didn’t hold back on social media, taking a swipe at Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp following Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday.

The match was marked by controversy, with Liverpool having a goal incorrectly ruled out and, later, being reduced to nine men. To make matters worse, Joel Matip conceded a 96th-minute own goal, handing Tottenham all three points and elevating them to second place in the table.

Amid the chaos, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz had a goal disallowed for offside when the score was still 0-0. The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) officially apologized for the error after the game, revealing that VAR mistakenly believed the on-field decision was to award the goal. This led to VAR official Darren England, who was overseeing the process, signaling “check complete,” despite realizing that Diaz was onside.

However, in the midst of all this, a heated exchange of words between Klopp and Richarlison during the first half of the game went somewhat unnoticed.

Richarlison, the Brazilian international who set up Son Heung-min’s first-half goal, engaged in a war of words with Klopp after a robust challenge on Mohamed Salah, which occurred just meters away from Klopp and Ange Postecoglou in their respective technical areas.

Richarlison responded to the altercation on TikTok, sharing a video of the incident, accompanied by the song “Se Acabo” by The Beatnuts and Method Man, a track frequently used with memes.

Richarlison has a history with Liverpool, having previously played for Everton, Liverpool’s city rivals.

After the game, Klopp had more pressing matters to address than his touchline dispute with Richarlison. He commented on Liverpool’s two red cards, stating, “The first red card, Curtis [Jones] steps on the ball and goes over. Not a bad tackle. It looks different in slow motion. He steps full throttle on the ball and goes over the ball. That is unlucky.”

Regarding Diogo Jota’s red card, Klopp remarked, “The first yellow was not a yellow. Then he gets a second, and to defend with nine players is tricky.”

Klopp also weighed in on Diaz’s disallowed goal, saying, “The offside goal. That is not offside when you see it, they drew their lines wrong. The ball is between Mo’s legs, they drew the line wrong and didn’t judge the moment when Mo passed the ball right. It is so tough to deal with it.”
