Sven-Goran Eriksson Addresses Liverpool’s Managerial ‘Proposal’ Amidst Battle with Terminal Cancer

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has addressed the recent calls urging him to manage Liverpool’s legends match next month. The 75-year-old, who recently disclosed his battle with cancer, expressed his determination to continue fighting and embrace life to the fullest.

Eriksson, in an interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain, responded to the suggestion of managing Liverpool in their legends match against Ajax in March. While he was unaware of the specific invitation, he acknowledged the charity game and expressed enthusiasm about attending as a spectator.

On the prospect of managing Liverpool, Eriksson stated, “I should be their manager? No, I’ve never heard that.” However, when asked if he would accept such an offer, he replied affirmatively, saying, “I would accept of course! That’s always been my dream, but like a dream, I’m not complaining. I’ve had a lot of good football teams – national teams and clubs, so I’m happy.”

Despite facing health challenges, Eriksson maintains a positive outlook, emphasizing that he continues to engage in everyday activities. He shared insights into his routine, including socializing over coffee and lunch, adapting to a slightly reduced travel schedule, and expressing his desire to attend the England-Brazil match in March.

“I refuse to sit down and cry, feeling sorry about myself,” Eriksson declared, emphasizing his determination to stay active and engaged. As he navigates his health journey, the football veteran remains optimistic and open to new opportunities, including the potential fulfillment of his dream to manage Liverpool, even if it’s in a legends match capacity.
