Anfield Road Roof Removal Commences: 8 Captivating Photos Capture the Transformation
While Monday served as a Bank Holiday in England, Anfield was a hive of activity as the first segment of the Anfield Road Stand’s roof was dismantled. Following Liverpool’s farewell match in front of a 54,000-strong crowd just over a week ago, work has now accelerated in earnest for the expansion of the iconic stadium.
With the aim of increasing the stadium’s capacity to 61,000, an additional 7,000 seats are set to be incorporated into the Anfield Road Stand, positioning Anfield as the Premier League’s third-largest venue in terms of capacity.
The latest phase of development includes carefully dividing the old roof into manageable sections, which will be removed one by one. Our exclusive drone footage provides an up-close glimpse of the ongoing progress at Anfield, capturing the preparations for connecting the new stand to the existing lower tier.
Shortly after capturing the footage, the first portion of the roof was successfully extracted, marking a significant milestone in the expansion project. Stay tuned for future updates as we document the evolution of Anfield.
Excitement is mounting among fans eager to witness the completed stand in all its splendor on matchdays. Liverpool has even made a special request to the Premier League, seeking permission to play their first fixture away from home to allow ample time for the finishing touches to be applied.
The development journey commenced back in September 2021, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp participating in a ceremonial groundbreaking event on a rainy day outside Anfield. Now, as the 2023/24 campaign draws near, let’s explore some of the latest captivating images from Anfield, offering a glimpse of the remarkable progress made as the new stand approaches its final form.
