Capturing Anfield’s spectacular perspective: Photos from inside the newly expanded Anfield Road Stand
Anfield, the iconic home of Liverpool Football Club, has been undergoing a remarkable transformation over the past few years. Since September 2021, significant progress has been made on the expansion of the Anfield Road End, giving the stadium a fresh and impressive new look.
The bustling activity at the Anfield Road End is a captivating sight, with cranes, cherry pickers, and dedicated workers meticulously placing seats and ensuring everything finds its rightful place. The exterior work seamlessly merges with the existing Main Stand, presenting a unified and harmonious facade.
Inside the stadium, the newly constructed upper tier stands as a testament to the project’s success. After the removal of the old upper tier and roof, the new upper tier has been structurally completed, marking a significant milestone in the expansion process. The removal of the old roof also opened up space for the installation of 150 new seats in the lower tier, ensuring an enhanced matchday experience for fans, with no obstructed views.
While cranes and cherry pickers continue their meticulous work on the roof, preparations are underway for laying the new pitch in time for the upcoming season. The process of laying a new pitch typically takes three weeks to ensure it is match-ready, and the stadium will be vacated by the construction equipment to facilitate this important task.
Standing from the Kop, one can truly appreciate the grandeur of the Anfield Road End expansion, which reaches an impressive height of 39 meters. The scale of the stand is awe-inspiring and highlights the commitment of Liverpool Football Club to provide a remarkable atmosphere for its supporters.
As the upper tier nears completion, the installation of individual seats is underway. Notably, a new hospitality section has been incorporated between the two tiers, promising an elevated matchday experience for VIP guests and corporate partners.
Beyond the stadium confines, a new walkway is taking shape outside the Shankly Gates. Adorned with “Anfield Forever” stones, this walkway pays homage to the club’s storied history and provides an engaging experience for fans, reminiscent of the walkway in front of the Main Stand on 97 Avenue.
With just under two months remaining until the start of the 2023/24 season, the Anfield Road End expansion is nearing its final stages. The anticipation builds as Liverpool Football Club prepares to host Bournemouth in their first home game on August 19, unveiling the revitalized and expanded Anfield to fans from near and far.
The Anfield Road End expansion stands as a remarkable achievement, a testament to the club’s commitment to continuous improvement and providing an unparalleled experience for supporters. The countdown to the new season is on, and Liverpool fans eagerly await the moment when they can witness the transformed Anfield in all its glory.
