Fabinho’s reported transfer to Saudi club revealed by clue found on wife’s Instagram
In a surprising turn of events, sources originating from the Gulf nation reveal that Fabinho’s proposed transfer to Saudi Arabia has already been sealed.
The Saudi Pro League has emerged as a potential destination for the 29-year-old midfielder, with rumors also linking Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to a move alongside him.
According to The Athletic, Saudi club Al Ittihad is reportedly preparing a solid offer to acquire Fabinho, while reports elsewhere suggest that Al Ettifaq, led by Steven Gerrard, is keen on signing Henderson.
Al Ittihad is said to be readying a substantial £40 million bid for Fabinho, who still has three years remaining on his contract with Liverpool at Anfield.
The departure of several senior players, including Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita, at the end of their contracts last month has already reshaped Liverpool’s squad this summer.
With Fabinho’s potential departure, Liverpool now faces the crucial decision of whether to sell the midfielder before securing a replacement for the vital No. 6 role.
The situation is expected to unfold swiftly, as stated in the report.
In Saudi Arabia, reports suggest that Fabinho’s move to the country is no longer a mere speculation but a definite agreement.
A Saudi-based outlet, Neewssports, which boasts a Twitter following of over 500,000, shared a picture of Fabinho donning Al Ittihad’s kit, accompanied by the caption: “Urgent. Deal done. Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.”
However, no further details were provided.
The intrigue surrounding Fabinho’s transfer intensifies as fans with a keen eye for detail have unearthed a potential clue on the Instagram account of Fabinho’s wife, Rebecca Tavares.
Observant supporters noticed that she recently started following the Instagram account ‘Welcome Saudi,’ which offers recommendations for hotels, restaurants, and attractions to foreign visitors.
Nonetheless, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may be hesitant to part ways with Fabinho, especially without securing a suitable replacement beforehand.
Since his £39 million move from Monaco in 2018, the Brazilian has become an integral player for the Reds, contributing to their victories in the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup. In total, he has made 219 appearances across all competitions.
Despite a slight dip in form last season, Fabinho was expected to play a crucial role in the team’s upcoming campaign.
As the new season approaches, Liverpool now faces a challenging decision regarding the midfielder’s potential sale.
Klopp’s side is set to kick off their pre-season with a friendly against Karlsruher, followed by their Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 13.
