Father of Liverpool Sensation Expresses Hope for La Liga Move
Liverpool’s midfield landscape has witnessed substantial transformation this summer, marked by Jordan Henderson and Fabinho’s lucrative departures to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, notable figures like Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have left the club upon the expiration of their contracts. While Liverpool has welcomed new signings, including Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai, one name continues to shine – Thiago Alcantara.
The influential Spanish midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, is on the brink of making a long-anticipated return to the pitch. After recovering from a hip injury that necessitated surgery before the end of the 2022/23 campaign, Thiago is back in training. His return promises to be a significant boon for Jurgen Klopp’s side throughout the season.
Yet, the question of Thiago’s future looms, and it may lead him away from Merseyside. Throughout the summer, he has been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League. Interestingly, his father, Mazinho, has openly expressed his desire to see his son wear the jersey of La Liga side Celta Vigo this summer.
Mazinho, a 1994 World Cup winner with Brazil, boasts a personal connection to Celta Vigo, having played 114 games for the club over a four-year spell. Furthermore, Thiago’s brother, Rafinha, also spent time at Celta on loan during the 2013/14 campaign, and in 2019/20, he played another 29 matches for the club.
Commenting on the possibility of Thiago joining Celta, Mazinho shared his thoughts with Mundo Deportivo, saying, “In football, you never know. I hope so [that he can sign for Celta], but at the moment, it is very complicated because Thiago has another dimension and another lifestyle. But I wish Thiago could come here. Almost all the memories I have from here are very good. Vigo is our home. Rafinha has had the opportunity to come here later to play two seasons… for the whole family, Celta means our home.”
As Thiago Alcantara continues his journey with Liverpool, the allure of La Liga and Celta Vigo remains an intriguing subplot in his evolving career.
