Liverpool’s Dynamic Move for Ryan Gravenberch as Man Utd Contemplates Bid
Liverpool FC is reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Bayern Munich’s young midfield talent, Ryan Gravenberch, as the club strives to bolster its midfield options. The Anfield side has found itself in a challenging position after the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League. This has prompted the club to actively seek out suitable replacements to maintain its competitive edge.
Initially, Liverpool had set their sights on securing the services of Moises Caicedo, tabling a British record-breaking bid of £111 million. However, Chelsea swooped in and secured Caicedo with an eight-year deal, shelling out a staggering £115 million to Brighton for the Ecuadorian midfielder.
The club then shifted their attention to Southampton’s promising talent, Romeo Lavia. However, it seems that Liverpool’s pursuit of the midfielder is likely to end in disappointment yet again, as Chelsea has reportedly agreed to a £53 million fee for the player. Lavia is expected to undergo a medical with the London club and finalize his move to Stamford Bridge.
With their initial targets slipping through their fingers, Liverpool now faces the task of reevaluating their options. The club seems poised to rekindle their interest in Ryan Gravenberch, the Bayern Munich midfielder. Speculation surrounding Gravenberch’s potential move to Liverpool initially surfaced during the January transfer window when his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, was spotted at Anfield. The rumors suggested a possible loan move to the Reds.
However, the anticipated transfer failed to materialize, leaving the 21-year-old midfielder at Bayern Munich for the remainder of the season. Gravenberch made 33 appearances for Bayern during the previous season, though the majority of those were off the bench. His £22 million move from Ajax to Bayern last summer led to reports of his dissatisfaction with his limited role.
Earlier in the summer, Liverpool had been linked with Gravenberch, but their focus shifted to other targets. Now, reports from French outlet Foot Mercato suggest that Liverpool is poised to reenter negotiations for the midfielder. According to journalist Santi Aouna, talks are underway with Gravenberch’s representatives, indicating renewed interest from Liverpool.
Furthermore, there is also a mention of Manchester United’s continued interest in Gravenberch, although as of now, no formal offer has been presented by the Red Devils.
Gravenberch himself aired his grievances with his role at Bayern back in April, expressing his desire for more consistent playing time. “Training and playing at the top level for a year is beautiful and instructive. I say playing, but it’s mainly training,” he remarked. “That has to change next season, then I really want to play weekly again. I haven’t spoken to the club management yet, so just wait and see what happens. But it’s clear that this role does not match my expectations.”
As the transfer window continues to unfold, Liverpool’s pursuit of Gravenberch underscores the club’s determination to secure a formidable midfield presence ahead of the upcoming season.
