Unveiling Liverpool’s state-of-the-art pitch: An exclusive look inside Anfield

Liverpool FC has once again undergone a remarkable transformation as they unveil their latest pitch for the second consecutive season. This time, the grass manufacturers have given us an exclusive insight into the meticulous process behind this cutting-edge playing surface at Anfield.

The need for a new turf arose after cranes occupied the hallowed Anfield pitch for an entire month following the conclusion of the season. The reason was to facilitate the construction work on the impressive new Anfield Road Stand, a project that promises to elevate the stadium’s atmosphere to new heights.

Hatko Hybridgrass, the experts behind the innovative turf, revealed that the entire pitch installation took approximately three days. Interestingly, the process involved cultivating the turf away from Anfield, at a specialized turf farm located in Nottinghamshire. This careful approach ensures the pitch’s readiness to host its first game within just a few days of installation, eagerly anticipated for Liverpool’s home game against Bournemouth on August 19.

The creation of this state-of-the-art playing surface involves the collaboration of three specialist companies. One oversees the cultivation of the turf, while another focuses on the hybridgrass technology, which combines the best features of natural grass with the added strength and durability of synthetic fibers. This remarkable combination results in a more resilient playing surface, capable of withstanding the demanding challenges of football and maintaining its world-class quality all year round. The days of muddy pitches and disrupted matches are now a thing of the past for Liverpool.

The hybridgrass system comprises an impressive composition of 95 percent natural grass and 5 percent artificial fibers, striking the perfect balance for optimum performance.

Fans will be delighted to learn that Liverpool’s pitch dimensions remain unchanged for the upcoming season, measuring 101 by 68 meters. As the players prepare to make their mark on the newly laid surface, the Kop’s view of the spectacular new Anfield Road Stand promises to enhance the matchday experience even further.

Photos from inside Anfield reveal the stunning perspective of the new stand from the Kop, showcasing its grandeur and imminent completion. The scaffold within the new upper tier has been removed internally, paving the way for the installation of seating that will soon transform the stand into a breathtaking spectacle.

The countdown has begun, with just under five weeks until Liverpool’s first home game in front of the newly completed stand. As the anticipation builds, Anfield is bracing for its highest attendance since 1977, set to witness history unfold on a pitch that embodies the essence of modern football excellence.
