Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp Allegedly at Odds with a “Displeased” Star Player, Says Pundit

Former Tottenham star Glenn Hoddle expressed his worries following Liverpool’s goalless draw with Chelsea, after Reds boss Jurgen Klopp left Mohamed Salah out of the starting XI for the match. Klopp made a surprising number of changes for the game, with Salah, Cody Gakpo and Trent Alexander-Arnold all starting on the bench. Virgil van Dijk, who missed the match due to illness, was also absent. Although Salah did come on as a substitute in the second half, he was unable to help Liverpool secure a much-needed win.

The Merseyside club has had a disappointing season so far, sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table with only 43 points. However, Salah has been one of their standout performers this campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists.

Salah’s substitution during the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on the weekend sparked rumors that something may be going on between him and Klopp. Hoddle added fuel to the fire by suggesting that there may have been a falling out between the two, which could be the reason behind Salah’s absence from the starting lineup.

Klopp, however, explained that the changes were made to give some players rest and others an opportunity to play. He admitted that the team hasn’t been performing well recently, and changes were necessary. Klopp gave Curtis Jones, who hadn’t started a game for Liverpool since November 1, a chance to play against Chelsea, and the midfielder impressed his boss.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Salah’s absence from the starting lineup was simply a tactical decision and not a sign of any underlying issues between the star player and his manager.
