Mo Salah’s Personal Bodyguard Reveals Extreme Measures to Protect Liverpool Star

Mohamed Salah’s personal bodyguard, Karim Abdou, has given a unique glimpse into the extensive security measures implemented to safeguard the Liverpool star.

Abdou, who has protected numerous football icons such as Roberto Carlos, Alessandro Del Piero, and Angel Di Maria, singled out Salah as his favorite player to work with. Their association spans nearly a decade, starting from Salah’s time at Roma in Italy to his rise as one of the most prominent figures in world football.

Abdou revealed some of the stringent protocols designed to protect the player’s safety. In an interview on the 5ASide Podcast, he explained, “All gifts have to be scanned. We don’t accept gifts, but if I receive them on his behalf, they must be meticulously examined. You never know what might be concealed within a gift, which could pose health risks or worse.”

Abdou emphasized the need to keep Salah a “ghost” in public to prevent potential threats resulting from people discovering his whereabouts. He elaborated, “He’s a ghost, he cannot be seen. Once, he went to a mosque to pray, and someone secretly followed him. Within minutes, the information that ‘Mo Salah lives at this address’ was circulating in a WhatsApp group, resulting in approximately 20,000 people showing up at his residence.”

Abdou recounted the most attention Salah ever garnered was after Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League victory when he returned home to celebrate Eid. “He was supposed to pray in the street with everyone, and given his recent triumph, everyone wanted a photo with him,” Abdou added.

The bodyguard also provided insights into Salah’s immense popularity in Egypt, where people often write him notes, hoping he can resolve their problems. “People believe he can solve all their issues. He has contributed millions to support the sick, donated ambulances to the city, and assisted financially struggling individuals in getting married, paying their bills, or undergoing necessary surgeries.” Salah’s impact in his homeland extends beyond the football pitch, making him a cherished figure among his compatriots.
